Concrete Restoration
From the time a concrete floor or wall is poured, it faces a variety
of challenges. As concrete cures, it shrinks slightly, which can cause
cracking within hours or days of the pour. Concrete cracks can also
occur over time from occurrences such as structural movement, settling
of the base material under the slab, or rapid temperature changes. In
industrial applications, concrete can experience corrosion from a
number of sources, which may include:
·
Heavy impact, abrasion, or vibration
·
Aggressive chemical attack
·
Exposure to organic acids (food & beverage plants)
·
Extreme temperatures or rapid changes in temperature
Left unchecked, concrete cracks and corrosion can lead to a number of
undesirable effects, including:
·
Breach of primary or secondary containment
·
Trip hazards
·
Injuries to tow motor drivers and damage to their equipment
·
Subsequent corrosion of reinforcing steel in slabs
·
Loss of sanitary conditions (food & beverage, pharmaceutical)
·
Unsightly appearance
Inscan employs some of the most experienced concrete restoration
experts in the field. With today’s injection resins, polymer modified
grouts and repair mortars, and floor resurfacers, restoration can
typically be completed with minimal down-time. Products can be
specified to improve strength, impact and abrasion resistance, and
corrosion resistance.
